Chris Rock Is Recording Two Stand-Up Specials for Netflix

As synonymous as Chris Rock’s name is with stand-up comedy, so to has it been intertwined with HBO who during their 20-year working relationship have recorded five standup specials together – from 1994’s Big Ass Jokes to the 2008’s Kill the Messenger – all of which earned him four Emmy Awards.

Following an eight-year absence from comedy specials, Rock has planned not one but two upcoming concert events – although he is departing HBO in favor of streaming giant, Netflix, who in the past have presented specials from John Mulaney, Patton Oswalt, Cedric the Entertainer, Iliza Shlesinger, Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy, Russell Peters, Ali Wong, Mike Epps, Aziz Ansari, Anjelah Johnson, Bill Burr, Chris Tucker, Demetri Martin, Chelsea Handler, Bo Burnham, Jim Jefferies and David Cross.

“Chris Rock is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand-up makes him comic royalty.
